Spin (frozen galaxy)

Origin, matter and universe, a sculpture in constant movement. A unique piece made out of stoneware with tonal glaze paint on the inside. ”Gustaf Nordenskiöld Sweden Unique”  logo stamp at the bottom. Handmade in Stockholm, Sweden.

Technique: Clay is pressed and rotated with specific tools, a combination of gravity, plasticity and manpower is used to create the sphere shape. The process uses the built-in chance in the forces of nature and helps to shape the piece and give it a body. The method is used as an artistic expression. Primitive and extraordinary at the same time. The center part of ‘Spin (frozen galaxy)’ is painted with several layers of glaze. Fired to 1280°C.
